Laure says: “Thank you all for trusting me since 2021 to dare to step out of your comfort zone, with the aim of lighting up children's faces with their most beautiful smiles.
Thanks to Justine, Mia, Pierre, Séverine, Lucie and Elora for helping us create wonderful memories together.”

Séverine, a volunteer in 2022, recounts:

“Rural Soccer Ghana is a provocateur of encounters. There are the wonderful encounters with extraordinary Ghanaian men and women! Then there are the encounters in France, sometimes right next door. And these equally important encounters build our experience as volunteers.
Lucie is one of these encounters. She was part of the adventure before, during and after the trip.

Before the trip, she took part in events with Foot Vallon, prepared the packages sent out at the end of the year, and ran fund-raising operations such as selling cakes at the Marcillac market. During the trip, she took part in visits and exchanges at the various schools, and of course became a soccer coach every evening for the teams she met. She also played two big games with the kids! On her return, she contributed to the presentation made to Foot Vallon members and helped the young footballers answer their pen pals.
Gentle and discreet, Lucie is a real footballer, an undeniable asset for RSG, who impressed the young Ghanaian players and set a fine example for the players (and future players!).

Her sensitivity and commitment to others left their mark. Her simplicity and joviality made the adventure with her pleasant and easy. And let's not forget her beauty, which won over many hearts! She holds the record for most marriage proposals per hour! (yes, yes, on time!). I have to qualify this by admitting that her courage was put to the test when a lizard (admittedly of considerable size...) got into the room. That was the only time we couldn't count on her...
It was her kindness, generosity and desire to share that led her on this adventure, because if we have to keep one image of Lucie, it's the one where she's surrounded by little Ghanaians who look at her and go towards her, the one where she distributes her gentle smile to everyone.”

Our history

Laure says: “It all started in February 2019 when I first set foot in sub-Saharan Africa, in Ghana. I met Lukman, who introduced me to his town Tamale and his passion for young people.

After my days as a volunteer at the Braifi school, where I helped teachers teach French and talked to pupils about cultural differences, he took me to meet the local children who meet up every day after school to play soccer. These children are supervised on a daily basis by coaches who are driven by the same passion as Lukman: they all aim to “put a smile on their faces”. More specifically, they supervise them, educating them by giving them rules that will help them both in sport and in everyday life, to grow better.

After two weeks of forging strong bonds, the return to France proved difficult. The tears flowed. To keep in touch, we came up with the idea of creating the association in France, so that it could help the local association in Ghana, and so create projects together for the benefit of the children.”
